Pre-dawn Ceremony: an East-West Celebration

In the chilly early morning hours of May 17, just as the first light was beginning to appear in the sky, more than 1,000 people gathered in the Prayer Field at Fuji Sanctuary for a special pre-dawn ceremony. The ceremony was planned as part of an East-West Celebration—a real-time link between the SOPP at Fuji Sanctuary and the Gala Evening of Transition World that was taking place at Kronborg Castle in Denmark, and which was also celebrating the launch of the Fuji Declaration.

As the sun set in Denmark (on May 16), it began to rise behind the foothills of Mount Fuji. At 4:40 am in Japan, participants at the event in Denmark tuned into a live internet broadcast from Fuji Sanctuary. The three initiators of the Fuji Declaration each offered a brief greeting, and then participants together performed a wordless prayer for the peace and awakening of all humanity. They closed the ceremony with a heartfelt goodbye to their friends in Denmark.
