On June 11, the SOPP was celebrated as part of a “Day of Peace and Solidarity,” which took place outdoors in a public space in Burgos. More than 50 people took part in the event, which included workshops, games, live music, and a market with fair-trade products. At 7pm we held our peace symphony, including a flag ceremony to pray for peace in each country.

Urrez, Spain
report by Asun Serna

This year, we again celebrated the SOPP in Urrez, as we have done every year except 2020. It was our 18th celebration. This year, the peace symphony was celebrated at the foot of a little hill where we had planted a big, beautiful peace pole at the top.

We began with 50 participants walking a peace path in nature, and singing and dancing in honor of different spiritual traditions. When everyone had arrived at the peace field where we would hold the ceremony, our colleagues, who had brought the flags of the world, welcomed the participants.

Before starting the peace ceremony, one of the organizers explained the meaning behind it. For each continent of the world, we offered sacred songs, dances, or prayers. Each participant was deeply radiating infinite love to all the countries. When the ceremony finished we shared some food.

Many of the people participating in this event were of different nationalities—the UK, Latvia, Germany, Peru, China, and Colombia were all represented. A little group of volunteers, musicians, and prayer colleagues prepared this SOPP event in a week.

It was a very intense day, full of emotions that left marks of happiness inside us.
