Cannington, Australia
report by Annette Pedersen
On 17 May, in Cannington—a suburb of Perth, Western Australia—we held a Symphony of Peace Prayers gathering hosted by the Brahma Kumaris. The event was attended by 35 participants and featured representatives from the Bahá’í, Quaker, Hindu, Sikh, Catholic, Buddhist, and Universal Great Brotherhood traditions.
Each speaker contributed in a meaningful and heartfelt way through prayers, readings, reflections on their faith tradition, hymns, and moments of silent contemplation.
The opening presentation shared the background and essence of SOPP, including the significance of the United Nations flags representing the nations of the world and the spirit of global unity they embody.
The gathering also joined us together in song, led by the Catholic representative. Following each presentation, two minutes of silence were observed, offering participants time for reflection and inner peace.
A special contribution was offered by a participant from New Zealand, who shared Maori Tai Chi movements with the group.
Toward the close of the program, each person was invited to place a tea light around a turning globe during the final meditation, creating a beautiful atmosphere of unity, peace, and hope for our world.
The session concluded with refreshments and fellowship, allowing participants time to connect and continue sharing in the spirit of peace and friendship.
