Hovea, Australia
report by Elaine Bowkett
The Symphony of Peace Prayers gathering held at Hovea Ashram on a beautiful sunlit 17th of May brought participants together in a spirit of peace, reflection, and shared connection. The gathering incorporated spiritual sharing, meditation, symbolic movement, silence, and prayer practices designed to foster unity and encourage reflection on personal and collective visions of peace.
Participants shared personal experiences and individual images of a peaceful world. These meaningful exchanges created connection, encouraged reflection, and fostered a spirit of peace, unity, and shared understanding.
A guided meditation based on the teachings of influential Sufi mystic and poet Mevlana Rumi encouraged participants to reflect on qualities found in nature and how these can positively shape our interactions with others and the wider world.
Following this, participants held colourful scarves representing diversity and inclusion and moved together in circles, symbolising unity and shared purpose. This transitioned into a quiet walk to the Peace Pole, where participants gathered in silence and prayer for world peace.
The gathering reinforced themes of unity, peace, and community connection. The natural Australian bush setting surrounding Hovea Ashram further enhanced the atmosphere of reflection, harmony, and shared experience.
