Peace Prayers at 3rd International Festival of Yoga, Culture and Spirituality

Peace peace ceremony at 3rd International Festival of Yoga, Culture, and Spirituality

On October 6, 2012, a wonderful peace prayer ceremony took place at Dev Sanskriti University near Haridwar, India, as part of the third International Festival of Yoga, Culture and Spirituality. The flag ceremony was organized by the Yoga Dharma community in Rome and the SOPP representative in Italy, in full cooperation with the Hindu community and the university.

The group from Italy was warmly welcomed and invited to participate in all the ceremonies and rituals leading to the final day. These included a purification ceremony at the Ganges River, a celebration of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, conferences, and other cultural events.

On the final day of the festival, 194 students carried the flags as everyone offered prayers for peace in each nation and region on earth, sending out love and light from one of the most sacred places in India. The ceremony took place within the Shiva Temple at the university, creating a beautiful and holy setting for the prayers.

The students and everyone involved expressed deep gratitude for the wonderful experience of holding this peace ceremony. “The prayer belongs to everyone and knows no boundaries,” observed one participant. The religious leader who closed the ceremonies spoke of  “everyone having lived an extraordinary experience in the Temple of Shiva. What we lived together will bring on a shift for us.”
