Waves of love, light, and harmony spread across the globe as people in all parts of the world celebrated the 2017 Symphony of Peace Prayers.
The large-scale SOPP ceremony at Fuji Sanctuary brought some 10,000 participants from across Japan and around the world, while still more connected with the ceremony through the live internet broadcast. Following up on last year’s Soul of WoMen campaign, the theme of this year’s ceremony was restoring balance between the divine feminine and divine masculine. A special Fuji Declaration Symposium on this topic was held in Tokyo on May 12, and many of the participants joined in the SOPP ceremony on May 14, offering messages to participants.
Prayer leaders from six world faiths led prayers for peace, and Mr. Peter Jiseok Jung of the Border Peace School in Korea spoke about peacebuilding and the power of prayer. In a joyous moment, the song “We Are All Shining Divine Sparks” was performed on stage by renowned vocalists Tomoko Maekawa and Fumio Onuki.

SOPP events in Germignaga, Italy, and Manila, Philippines
In dozens of countries on every continent, people gathered to celebrate the Symphony of Peace Prayers. Some were large gatherings of 100 or more people, while in other places, people held small ceremonies at home or joined in with the SOPP at Fuji Sanctuary through the online broadcast. Many SOPP organizers commented that they felt a strong connection with everyone offering peace prayers at Fuji Sanctuary and all around the world.

We would like to sincerely thank all those who organized and took part in SOPP events large and small—it is your dedicated efforts and peace-loving spirit that makes this event a success year after year, so that step by step we are creating a world where peace prevails.
