Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: report by Geetha Madhavan

SOPP 2016 was celebrated at the Pure Life Society in Kuala Lumpur, together with the celebration of Mother Mangalam’s 90th birthday, on the 15th of May, 2016. The event was attended by over 200 people from all walks of life who believe in promoting peace for a better world.

The event started off with all guests writing messages of peace on a scroll. This was followed by a multi-media presentation on the SOPP. A minute’s prayerful silence was observed by all participants.

Representatives from various religious groups, such as Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, the Baha’i faith and the Brahma Kumaris, each offered prayers for world peace, followed by devotional songs. The religious representatives also signed the peace scroll after offering their prayer.

During the lighting of the birthday cake, Mother Mangalam shared her experience of attending the SOPP in Japan in 2010. This made the event more meaningful to all, especially the children, who vowed to promote peace.
